How to clean a wood deck with resist mist

Resist Mist is an innovative new way to clean composite decks safely and efficiently. Unlike bleach, its proprietary solution is mild on deck and plants but tough on mold, algae and other stains.  One application does the job for most users: a simple application of the Resist Mist Treatment can help keep mold, mildew, algae, and other types of stains off your deck and keep them from coming back for three or more years. To get the most out of the product, you should know how to use it. Do not worry if you have never used to Resist Mist before because, as this blog will show you, it is simple.

Dilution of The Cleaner Comes First: 3:1 is the Typical Ratio

Mix three quarts of water to your one quart of Resist Mist Composite Deck Cleaner In A One Gallon Garden Pump Sprayer.  You can use a higher concentration of cleaner (more cleaner less water) to remove stubborn stains like grease from a grill, lotion, rust, and other such stains. Spray the Mixture on Your Deck And Let It Sit For About 10 Minutes.  Don’t let it dry.  If it starts to dry, spray more of the mixture on the areas that are drying.

Tip:  We recommended cleaning about 50-100 square feet of decking at a time.

Gently Scrub the Deck With A Stiff Bristle Deck Brush

You should see the cleaner lifting dirt and stains off your deck and foam a small amount.

Rinse the Deck with Water.

Once the light foam has formed and you are done scrubbing the area, rinse the deck with copious amounts of water. If you can, use more water at less pressure. It will ensure a complete rinsing without damaging your deck.

Let the Deck Dry

Wait a few minutes for all the standing water on the deck to evaporate. The deck should be almost completely dry before applying the Resist Mist Treatment.

Dilute The Resist Mist Treatment 3:1 In Your Clean Garden Pump Sprayer

Apply Resist Mist Treatment on the Deck

Saturate your deck with it after you have removed the cleaner. It is okay to go a little overboard with the treatment solution. For the most part, you cannot put too much Treatment on the Deck.  Although, do not put on so much that you have puddles.

Let the Deck Dry

  • Older decks may require a second application.
  • Keep traffic to a minimum for about 24 hours.
  • Do not apply Resist Mist Treatment if rain is forecasted within 24 hours.
